More and more these days im seeing (SICP trained) programmers in responsable programming positions in the office with little or no working knowledge of BBCode, Its appauling.

Perhaps it's for the best. Do you really want some clueless all-theory-no-experience professor trying to teach something as complicated as BBCode? They'd make a mess of it. Unless you've been in the field and used BBCode for serious, mission-critical applications, you CAN'T teach it effectively. It's just not possible; there's too many subtle facets to BBCode that can only be realized by real-world experience. I say we let the students that are really serious about programming teach themselves BBCode, and then wait a few years until we have a sufficient pool of skilled teachers before we advocate teaching BBCode in the classroom.
