Is DeVry a decent college?

Name: Anonymous 2007-08-01 11:19 ID:UsHjIvg2

I'm a soldier in the Army National Guard, and in Illinois, the ARNG pays full tuition. I can go to any college in the state of Illinois for free. I want to design video games for a living. Not just program them, I want to dabble in everything so I can make it my own style of game. Would DeVry be good for this? Or would you suggest another college?

No argument there. And I'm the dumbass who has wasted his day posting the conservative side of this thread. Damn spoiled kids. Don't know how good they've got it. Parents really need to start beating them shitless like they used to. Dr. Spoc was wrong, and he just about ruined the country.

Great for you. Good luck making your living designing video games.

PROTIP: Have you ever programmed anything before? My bet is you haven't, you will get to college and realize it sucks, and quit. Or, if you love2program, you will get through college and realize you can't get a job with shitty DeVry degree.

Go to UIUC and get a real CS degree. That will make you far more money than a degree from DeVry.

Shit, seriously. You can go to any school in the state and you are about to pick DeVry?!? I guess that means you should go to DeVry.

Making games for a living is NOT a good choice unless you are after constant stress and disappointment, heavy smoking, depression and dealing with lots of retarded things made by braindamaged people.
Developers who are not 100% devoted drop out after 3-5 years.

A lot of low-tier schools offer video game courses. It makes them a lot of money because so many teenagers want to learn it and dream of making a living in games.

I don't know DeVry, but generally good teachers are attracted to schools with good salaries. You could go see what kind of cars they drive, or Google for teacher salary discussions, or sit in on a few classes for a day. That last one is probably the best way. It's not unusual; just get the instructors permission.

When picking a school, also be aware that better name schools get you a better salary. "Better name" usually means selective, so that an A from that school actually means something.

I doubt that the chump who started this thread could get into a good school.

Devry is not a college. It is a technical school. Go to an actual universty. Google.com is your friend.

Don't waste a full schlorship on a technical school.
