unsigned int in minuses wtf?

I've made a function that takes in an unsigned int. the unsigned int is cast from a normal int

and it can go into minuses, why? i thought unsigned ints couldn't!

The OP must've tried to print an unsigned int with printf, using the %d directive rather than %u. Silly, silly >>1.
