Recently theres been a lot of talk about HTML, Java, plz help me hack, BB-fucking-code! and worse people in fucking reddit are linking to us.
This is not acceptable, there are encrption and compression threads getting ignored while people discuss PHP in detail.
Fucking "memes" starting to take over like "IM AN EXPERT CODER" or "IVE READ SICP", "PYTHON HAS THE FORCED INDENTATION OF CODE" and this shit, come on grow the fuck up.
Can you really live with yourselves after letting /prog/ get like this?
Its time to fucking do somthing, we need less of this shit and more worthwhile discussion about type inference and compilers/interpreters and stuff.
prog is full of shit.
you just posted a huge steaming pile of more shit.
way to go dumbass.

Hahaha slipping a lot? /prog/ has already become worse than /vip/. It's no use trying to bring it back to its former glory before some faggot mod decided to put 'font-family: monospace' in its CSS. Just go to that other non-existent awesome programming bbs because world4ch is dead.

Try 4-ch if you don't want to get shitted on when you start serious threads. The most they will do is not reply because no one goes there.

SPOILERS: If you want serious discussion go somewhere else.
Here's the place where we relax and troll, /prog/ has made my day quite a lot of times, if you don't like it simply GTFO. there are encryption and compression threads
are you refering to this http://dis.4chan.org/read/prog/1181023718/1-40
if yes, please die.
>>1 Can you really live with yourselves after letting /prog/ get like this?
/prog is to post witty memes and have your daily laughs. Trust me, it was worse than this in the past, back when the 4chan mods were commenting that /prog was the new /VIP. Still, if you want to discuss something serious, we could talk about SICP proposed exercises. Yes, this is not related to this thread, but it's my way to say I've read SICP, although I'm a Python weeaboo fag, and enjoy the forced indentation of code. Did I tell you about how the other day I went to Yoshinoya (you know, Yoshinoya) and I couldn't get in?

/g/ has been through this same drama over and over. 4chan attracts /b/-tards; just accept it and learn to skip garbage posts, MOST of 4chan, quickly. Usenet is still pretty active if you want more seriousness. Also code posting sites like codeproject, codeguru, experts-exchange are naturally more useful. If you know of others like those, please mention them.

You know, if there was no /b/, (which, ironically, was used to keep in all the trolls. now it produces trolls), 4chan wouldn't have turned to shit so fast.
>>15
Yeah, wikis, I forgot about those. Most every language has one leading wiki. And an email list archive. So bring up 2 browser windows, 4chan /s/ in one and a programming email archive in the other.

Kill pay shit with fire. I've even mapped experts-exchange.com to 127.0.0.1 in my hosts file. I hate how when I Google for shit for my open sauce work I stumble upon pay bullshit which serves text to Google so I can search it, but won't let me see it. That's nasty pollution and misuse of Google's index.

Cloaking is punishable by delisting, tell Google about it if that's really what they are doing.

Usenet has REALLY annoying trolls though, and they cause so much drama I want to cut myself with Extra Onion, the double-edged sword.
>>14
Finding a non-binary Usenet server should be no problem, in fact, your ISP probably has one. If not, go with Google Groups ;)

Thanks for the info, I'll report them as soon as I see it done again.

What do you think google's search bot user-agent strings might be?
Just turn javascript off for experts-exchange and you'll find all the solutions listed there ROT13 encrypted. If it really is my last resort, I'll just paste them in to http://www.rot13.com/
I've been here since world4ch's early days and I agree with the OP. I basically switched to reading programming reddit instead, since there's rarely any interesting (or funny!) discussion going on here. I don't have a problem with unhelpful trollish comments but it's the same fucking thing in every thread, without even topical variation.

Usually checks are done by known GoogleBot IPs instead of by User-Agent.
/prog/ is like /vip/ for programmers. And that's pretty good.
It's the "how do i becum a hakkur(sp)?????!?!?!?!?" posts that irk me. It's like these doody-for-brains indurrviduals didn't understand what programming was, apart from "the stuff with the computer that involves the ke-wye-bo-arrrr-duh and/or the morbo"; so they come to /prog/ with their asinine bullshit rather than the more appropriate /comp/ (or, more likely, /vip/).
So yeah. Give me moderator powers and I'll give you a clean, righteous /prog/.

/prog is the /vip of programmers, and Anonymous likes it this way. Don't fag up our jokes forum; if you want to discuss serious programming, go to reidick, 4ch, or anywhere else.

>Usenet has REALLY annoying trolls
There is ID information in a Usenet post unlike "anonymous". I wrote my own NNTP downloader so I see the entire header and use grep -v as my killfile mechanism. (Kill file is what original UNIX news readers use to filter out trolls. "Welcome to my kill file" used to be a common retort.)

>wikiwikiweb...rot13.com
Useful tidbits like those are the frayed thread that tie me to the mostly crap pile that is /prog/.

>...without even topical variation...
Signed. I read back through the archived threads one day. Perl vs Python over and over and over, with little useful technical information. Much more students here than programmers.

>"...doody-for-brains indurrviduals ...Give me moderator powers"
No.
You do realise those are just trolls and you bit them very hard, right?

You guys are all faggots. /prog/ is not meant for serious threads, but it's not that funny/clever either. /prog/ is just shit, and shitty excuses for human beings like us lurk here.
Remember: all /prog/ memes are faggot cock sucking memes.
