so now I'm an expert programmer.
now what?

I guess I need to get around to reading Knuth and the Gang of Four.  What other significant programming books are there?

K&R is a good read, but C and forget Lisp? C is only good for systems programming and performance-critical applications. For other than that, it's a pain in the arse, a portable assembler with zero advanced features. Do you even get anything done? Sure, it's OMG SUPER FAST LIKE GOKU IN SUPERSAYAN 2. But in the time you wrote your OMG OPTIMIZED module, others wrote entire applications in powerful languages. And they have fun, too. I'd rather metaprogram and design domain-specific languages than micromanage my memory.
