Roguelike game recommendation

I know this isn't /prog, but I figured no better place than /prog to ask.

Can you recommend a roguelike game for someone who loves Castle of the Winds? I particularly like towns, and value being able to save/load anywhere. I don't care for mouse at all, and don't care for graphics as long as they are not character-based.
