Hey /prog/,

I'm the WikiSysop of Wikichan.org and I've got a request for all 4channers who have any kind of skill in programming or networking.

You see, I have begun leading a group of (mainly /b/tard) programmers and developers into making a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. Yes, it's been done before, but we're doing a lot of very cool things to make this a reality, and not just some shitty rip off of Everquest.

Anyway, what I'm looking for are programmers and people with talent in game development. The project is already existing, and we have about 100 pages of documentation, from design specifications, game specifications, core level engine documentation, high level documentation, and even some random concept art our artist (who specializes in hentai, haha) pumped out.

This isn't a joke nor a crappy little project. You will be officially contracted into this project would you begin, and be promised a percentage of all profits (like 2%-4% depending on your work) capped at a reasonable rate for your work (like $20k). We have already begun talking with publishers about putting this game retail, so such numbers are absolutely viable.

If you want to give it a go, e-mail me at wikisysop@wikichan.org , preferably with some samples of stuff you've done.

Oh yeah, and before it even begins, I'm not looking for /v/ level idea critique. We're past that stage, we've started, and we know what we're doing. Telling us "lol u need a game plan" is moot when we have one the size of a small country.

If this is not a troll (highly unlikely) and you the guy who originally posted that you're all ready being made fun of here, see the end of the thread "Why wont this compile?"

Don't let the door knob rape your ass on the way out.

1. Place your anus up against your pool inward pump. If you are too poor to have a pool, use your vacuum cleaner. If you are too poor to have a vacuum cleaner, put your head in the oven immediately.
2. Wait awhile, then lift up. If done succesfully, your rectum and lower intestine should have started to come out.
3. Continue to pull it out until you have a nice little rope going. Don't worry about the mess, it'll be taken care of in the last step.
4. Go to your ceiling fan. If you are too poor for a ceiling fan, anything high up will do.
5. Standing on a stool, tie your intestine securely around the fan. Loop it twice around your neck for added stability.
6. Kick the stool out from under you.
7. ???????
8. Profit.

It's not like it's going to get anywheres. I bet they haven't even designed the game loop or input subsystem yet.

$20k? Gyahaha.

Where I live, a new grad gets a minimum $45k per year. Any experienced game dev gets at least $70k.

45k? You can get that much at best buy

$20k? Gyahaha.

Where I live, a new grad gets a minimum $100k per year. Any MASTER PROGRAMMER gets at least $500k.

$20k? Gyahaha.

Where I live, a new grad gets a minimum $200k per year. Any EXPERT PROGRAMMER gets at least $9000k.

$20k? Gyahaha.

Where I live, that is a pretty reasonable pay! Any GODLIKE PROGRAMMER might get upwards of $100k.

$20k? Gyahaha.

Where I live, a new grad gets a minimum -$DEADBEEF per year. Any Haskell troll gets at least $0xFF, %pay

Why is the profit distribution capped at 20k? I don't even believe you'll make $1000 but if the game would get enormously successful and you'll make much much more you won't pass the profit onto your programmers nevertheless? Seems gready to me...

The thinking goes like this: "Hay guyz, I had an awesome idea! It's so awesome it's mine, mine, mine!"

The problem with such thinking is that ideas are cheap; they're a dime a dozen. Everyone has plenty of them. What makes an idea worthwhile isn't the idea itself but its manifestation, which is usually a shitload of work. It's very rare that an idea is so revolutionary that it's worthwhile in an of itself.

Execution talks, ideas walk.
