The SDL has a nice multi-platform thread interface. It beats fucking around with the windows API.

So, I got the win thread API  process up and running(too lazy to set up Boost or SDL). However, I'm trying to call a function(namely wiimote.HeartBeat()) and I'm not sure how to go about doing that.

The reason I want to put that in a thread is because I have my Wiimote interacting with an OpenGL app, but because I had to call the heartbeat throughout the drawing function, it lagged to roughly 15 FPS, and I read that the "ideal setup" was in a thread. Thanks for all your guys help so far.

Really, use SDL. Win32 always sucks, and Linux' pthread and related documentation kinda sucks sometimes (though it's ok for threads). SDL will provide a simple, working, portable thread implementation that's all you'll need.

Boost has a somewhat portable-ish threading library. Might wanna go with that, since boost is made of about as much win as C++ is gonna get. (That's to say, not much but it's better than "straight" [by which I mean GAY AS MAN ON MAN BUTTSEX IN THE ASS] win32.)
