I just make little silly 2D games, want to spend some time and make somthing 3D eventually..

eh theres nothing silly about 2D games for someone that makes them themselves. The dude from gamedev I linked to is a real Pro. He got in fights with Take Two on publishing his games before.

Eh.. I'm not sure what to make of that guy. He's definitely got the skills to be be working in the game industry, but judging from some of the screenshots he doesn't have enough experience to go straight into graphics engine development. It is very impressive what he has done on his own, but the game looks like it has derivative gameplay and could use more professionally done art.

The last game I programmed was an othello game for MS-DOS with mouse and sound-blaster support.
The one before that was a Summer Games knock-off for Commodore 64s called "Special Olympics" (Wheelchair Diving...25 yard hobble...etc)
I guess I never really got into it.

Looks better than what??? I saw a few decent shader effects, but the engine itself doesn't look very complex.

I am going to say right away no new (good) computer games, as it is a computer game. but:
Zelda: TP
FFXII

Wow... you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. For starters, Zelda: TP has much better shaders including HDR effects, and the engine itself handles scenes with way more geometry. You must be retarded if you are being amazed by some shadows and bump mapping on the side of a building.

Wii and GameCube have the TEV unit, which is a little different from normal shaders in the pipeline. I didn't distinguish between the two because they provide the same basic functions, and I figured most people wouldn't have much knowledge on the subject. Which you proved.
>>21
TEV unit == shit.
Alot of games dont even bother using it. It is too unreliable and shitty to use on games.

I call shenanigans, provide examples where it is "unreliable and shitty". Any games by major developers for the GameCube or Wii that I've seen use a least a few shader effects, so its more like the developers that can't use the TEV are the "unreliable and shitty" ones. By the way, what does this have to do with >>15 being an idiot that knows nothing about graphics engines?

this.getThread.post("You don't have much knowledge on the subject.");

hehe, I have no idea on gamecube or wii components, just wanted to piss off the people that think it can actually do anything

have fun failing out of your classes at your lower tier college, btw. winter terms are earlier and much more compact at good universities.

I think >>7 was referring to Source as in Half Life 2's game engine, not the source code
