API halp

I need acess to some windows API stuff, namely SendInput. I'm looking at msdn so i know that it needs some arguments and so on, but what confuse me is the structures it requires, it requires a input structure, and that input structure requires a mouse/keyboard input structure in turn.

My experience with APIs so far is to copy pasta a code snippet and running it, so i'm somewhat confused on what to do.

Lanaguage i'm using is ruby.

it's no major API heavy operations i'm intending to do, mouse and keyboard input. And getting to know what's displayed on the screen. Not really in a hurry or seeking to make super optimized software here.

As it stands now you fail many times harder than me in your language use.

And why should i use something other than windows when it's perfectly sufficient for everything i need and want to do and the alternatives are not sufficient for what i need and want to do?
