C compilers

This is newbie of me but I just want some opinions. I've searched for a compiler but I feel overwhelmed and confused on what's the best to use.

So.. my question is; What in your opinion is a good compiler to use for fooling around in C?

>>16 That's because DJGPP is really weird to set up properly (particularly in an NT/2000/XP install). It's certainly a good choice if you're running DOS (or windows 9x); but most people aren't these days.

IMHO, if you're running windows and want to go the gcc route; cygwin is the best way to go.
