Whatever you think of collectivism and individualism, we are individuals. Just a plain simple fact. If you ignore this fact when trying to get people to cooperate and work together you basically opening the door for the group to be controlled by an abusive authority.

I'd be more suspicious of a "utopia" where everyone always has a big smile on their face and not a single word of complaint than a society where people constantly repine and criticize their leaders. I'd much rather live in the latter.

Anything to the left of democratic socialism (ds as practiced in Venezuela) is too radical and authoritarian. Having said that, Marxian analysis of capitalism is still valid, though. This is why reformist orientated social democracy has flourished rather than outright communism.
