Getting rid of the federal reserve

Name: Anonymous 2013-07-25 22:57

How has the federal reserve lasted this long? Since it's inception in 1910 the dollar has lost 96% of it's worth and the great depression started within two decades of credit becoming for available without anything to back it up. The federal reserve works by perpetual debt and many say that it is literally impossible for any country to pay off their debts. I know overthrowing the federal reserve would leave a huge migraine of a mess to clean up, but does anyone honestly actually think the reserve is good and how long before the people do anything about it?

A 1910 dollar ($25 in today's money) in a municipal bond with 5% annual returns would be worth $152 today.

Correlation does not imply causation, you need exact causal links to conclude anything.

In the last 30 years, as a proportion of GDP, receipts have been as high as 20% and outlays have been as low as 18.2%, a surplus of 2% is realistic and would amount to $300 billion a year for a GDP of $15 trillion. It is possible to pay off debt, politicians just aren't interested in doing so.

The US paid $432 billion in interest on its $16 trillion debt, a mere 2.7%, 0.04% taking into account inflation. Seems like a pretty good deal. Don't worry, your Sheqalim are in good hands.

Isn't the concept of a PRIVATE bank creating money scary? And that a private body has CONTROL over the life blood of a whole country?
