Not all 'Nazis' were criminals. Some didn't believe in an Aryan race but were rather forced into fighting with Germany otherwise they'd get killed as well as their families.
As a result, they tried to help Jews as much as they could by feeding them in camps and treating them humanely when those who believed in the Nazi doctrines weren't around. I think they even gave them intel on the best ways to escape or revolt but it was rarely successful due to the fact that most of the guys were malnourished and couldn't fight.

Wouldn't mind helping them research the holocaust if I had the know how and oppurtunity. Just to slide it in that their estimates allow them research in such a politically charged territory.
