shouldn't student loans get 0.75%?

Wall Street banks are getting those low rates to help them recover from the consequences of their own irresponsible and fraudulent behavior that crashed America's and the world's economy.

The only crime of most college students and graduates is wanting an education and a middle class standard of living.

Sign a White House petition telling Obama to support Elizabeth Warren's bill to give student loans same interest banks get: 0.75% http://wh.gov/JNiU

Then send it to two friends, especially if they're buried under student loans.

I doubt that Obama and Congress will pass this bill, but if 100,000 people sign it, he has to AT LEAST respond to it and address two uncomfortable issues at once:

1. Why Wall Street is getting continuous superlow interest bailouts in the tens of trillions from the Federal Reserve after their criminal conduct.

2. Why the rest of us are told to tighten our belts and suck it up in spite of number 1.

Warren talks crazy but this actually makes sense.

I've seen elderly people who have 30+ years of experience and a degree get laid-off to be replaced by some 20 year old retard who barely finished high school.

If only corporations had the common sense to offer free college credits for those who worked for them and retained their well-educated staff, this would be a non-issue. I shouldn't have to call a administrative office that hangs up on people because they can't find the "hold" button on their office phone.

The government is already wayyyy too deep in the pyramid scheme that is "higher education".  Individuals who are actually passionate about learning will do so through  a $40/mo internet subscription. Dumbass high school kids who have no idea what the real world is like shouldn't have their choices subsidized by taxpayers, and the resultant bubble is going to fuck everyone. We can at least lessen that effect by removing government interference in the education market.  Subsidized education FUCKS everyone.

When they reach maturity, it would be too late to get any education. Today science is very specialized and requires whole life commitment, where every month counts. The time of polymaths is long over. Besides, learning abilities only weaken with age.

Now that heroes like Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, and Michael Newdow removed Jesus from the schools, the govrerent needed to create a new original sin for the masses.  Enter student loans.  Also, just like the Reformation, they abolished "indulgences" in the 70s by making the loans non-dischargeable in bankruptcy.

I'm a lawyer and I don't think I'll ever pay off the debt I owe.  I'm maki g $60k/year, but after loans it's more like $52, which fuckin sucks

No, the whole education cock-up in the USA is because of the GOP's efforts at destroying it and Democrats being too cowardly to completely stop them.

That's funny because public schools are completely apathetic towards any teenager that is genuinely interested in science. Clearly 23 year old trust-funded/affirmative-actioned hipsters and wannabe gangstas who receive $100000s each for their women's studies and drama "degrees" are more important than that awkward white boy in high school who prefers to spend his time reading up on cellular microbiology than smoke weed and act like a baboon in the mall.

As a Texan student, I wouldn't mind paying up to 22% in student loan interest if it helps our great nation
