Jap has been controlled by USA since the WARII and has made great contribution to the world in culture, science and so on. As the biggest opponent to china in asia ,Jap has to face a lot of pressure from China.At the same time , China is a deterrent to USA in its way back to Asia. Now that Jap is the alliance with USA as well as the enemy to China , it's of course necessary for the nation to own its own army.

The constitution of Japan forbid waging war, so their military is forced to suck.
Of course, they can always amend their constitution, but the rest of East Asia won't like it.

You're just mad because you have to compete with China economically now, you are no longer asia's workshop. Why can't you follow in the example of South Korea who had more conservative economic policies in which businesses had to compete for capital so that the decider was objective predictions about potential profits, as opposed to flooding the market with capital so the decider was links to the government and major banks causing a real estate bubble and "stag-deflation"?
