If you just directly state in front of their face why they are wrong they seem to instantly go full retard and ignore everything or fail to understand. You have to use a different angle, give them the information needed to reach the same conclusion, gradually building up their understanding taking care not to tread on any social land mines, but never ever say "incorrect" or "wrong".
