Khazarian Hypothesis seems to be ideologically wrong for us, because it will draw in Turkic nations to the side of the Jews and the Jews could pretend they have right to Slavic and German lands. Besides it will clash with the general idea that the Jews are not a race, but a nation of all outlaws. So just bury Khazars.

Jews could pretend they have right to Slavic and German lands
Except that those lands are outside the Promised Land. For Jews to (also) have right to those, they'd have to be less (than) Jewish, with therefore less right to land in Palestine.
And that's not mentioning how Jews themselves don't seem to like the idea of not being the same ethnicity as the old Judean/Israeli tribes. Turning out to be descendants of recent(ish) converts instead, would obviously make them «not real Jews» or something.
…as opposed to Sephardic Jews, that actually appear to be real descendants. Not that Sephardics seem overly popular, however, with the ultra-far-right religious nutcases over in Israel. Hmm, I wonder why?
(As a side-note, note also how «ultra-far-right» is supposedly somehow different from «extreme right-wing». How one is kinda-sorta-ok-he's-at-least-on-our-side-(i-think), and the other is The Bad Guy. But the actual difference is how much, exactly?)
On the other hand, though, «chutzpah» is indeed a Yiddish word…
