Dear Esther

Name: Rav Anomymous 2012-09-06 22:44

And the Jews smote all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and with slaughter and destruction, and did what they would unto them that hated them.

And in Shushan the castle the Jews slew and destroyed five hundred men.

And Parshandatha, and Dalphon, and Aspatha,

and Poratha, and Adalia, and Aridatha,

and Parmashta, and Arisai, and Aridai, and Vaizatha,

the ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Jews' enemy, slew they; but on the spoil they laid not their hand.

I never understood why this story was relevant. Why would the Jews pridefully speak of a whore that passively represented them? Why would anyone have a vendetta against this whore that was clearly not his property? Are Christians really stupid enough that they'd believe that the movie 300 was relevant at all to this story?
Who do they prefer? The Persians or the enemy to the Persians? Clearly, they can't have both.
