Christian hate of Islam

With the little stir created with that US Muslim woman, a thought popped into my head...
Yes, like most religions, Christianity is fundamentally peaceful.  I know that much.

What is it about the Jewish nations and peoples hating Muslims in general so much?
Christians accept Muhammad as a prophet, but Muhammad was the LAST prophet, so he deserves more attention and stuff, so it can't just be the Muslim-following aspect.
Is it just that they associate Muslims with the Middle Eastern world?  Or maybe still just something passed down ever since the Crusades?

Lets ignore the constant war-mongering against the West, terrorism and the crazy hate they have for non-Muslims, Jews, women, gays and their critics.
