Because the Western parliamentary-democratic bourgeois system should not be considered as a reference for every single entity and culture in the world to follow. Arabs need a strong leader, not some imported fundamentally flawed system. Nothing wrong with suppressing so-called dissents, if it serves the Syrian people, which it does. I can tell you from experience that the political system in the German Democratic Republic wasn't an issue in the 1989 counter-revolution as well. People were mad because of Honecker's flawed "unity of the economic and social policy", which was deemed to fail from the very start. The counter-revolutionary Gorbachev, social-democrat clique used this to their advantage, as the West does in their meddling in MENA today.
