I'm not quite sure what point you're trying to make by bring up EVA. Are you suggesting that evangelion themselves are ideal characters to aspire to as giant humanoid slaves, genetically engineered to be weapons of death, prone to uncontrollable bouts of rage? Or are you suggesting that Shinji is something to look up to?

And if we want to start holding up manga characters as a whole as "better" than crime fighting super heroes you immediately run into trouble due to the number of highly dysfunctional protagonists as well as the characters whole are basically the same superhero model, pretty much all based off of Kamen Rider.
