Paraskevi Papachristou has been expelled olympics for writing the following in a casual tweet.

"With so many Africans in Greece... the West Nile mosquitoes will at least eat homemade food!!!"

It's an international organization that is considered, probably to your chagrin, highly reputable.  Their mission statement even includes "by confronting antisemitism ... and teaching the lessons of the Holocaust for future generations."  That's why I am not surprised the publisher was greatly alarmed when they brought claim like they did, according to your story.  You don't even mention strong-arming, intimidation, or anything of that sort.

Which ties into a "more importantly" point that you said yourself: the publisher discontinued the Marco Polo on his own volition.  The apology was all he was required to do, and perhaps refuse similar articles, unless it was a Japanese pride thing.
