I guess you didn't notice that the Communists in Russia won elections years ago and the Russian people have been enjoying "pretend" elections ever since.
I'll grant that Medvedev and Putin are little power hungry bastards. Ambitious? Yes. Corrupt? You betcha. Communists? Nah. They'd rather fuck Russia over with a market dictatorship.

Now if we're talking about Belarus and Lukashenko being somewhat of a communist holdover from the old Soviet days, then you would start making a little more sense.
