Dear /newpoll/, I do not frequent this board often, but I have come seeking knowledge. With the recent riots in the UK, and seeming civil unrest in many countries all over the world, what is /newpoll/'s view on riots, morally, or politically, and when would you consider rioting justified?

Fundamentally, any riot is justified as long as I get a fair or better share of the loot. I detest riots that endanger my property.

I wish the US would start rioting. There's this game I want, and it'd give me the perfect excuse to go grab it.

Rioting is good if there's a point. If it is just niggers and chavs breaking shop windows; why bother?
If you're fucking storming parliament or the white house to chop those fuckers' heads off, well... that's a different story.

This. There's a line between protest and riot. In Egypt, the violence was directed at the authorities, and people converged on the single point in order to make a political statement - that's protest. In the G20 incident, the violence was directed towards specific institutions, people were causing damage to the offices and branches of banks - that's protest. In the recent event, the violence wasn't really directed anywhere, and people just ended up breaking into shops and stealing stuff - that's a riot.

Aren't most nowadays characteristic of both? The riots in Greece come to mind.
