Multicultrualism

Multiculturalism says that we cannot make qualitative judgments of other peoples based on their culture. They even go as far to say that western culture should be less emphasized in schools, all the way up to the college level, so as to try to counteract the effects of slavery and colonization.

But here are some inconvenient facts about multiculturalism:

1 in 3 South African men admit to rape.

In the congo, "More than 400,000 women and girls between the ages of 15 to 49 were raped in the war-ravaged country in central Africa during a 12-month period in 2006 and 2007, according to the study published in the American Journal of Public Health on Wednesday."

Is this the result of multiculturalism or racial oppression from the white man? The simple truth is, African culture remains steeped in mysticism and ignorance to science and rule of law. Meanwhile, the liberal and multicultural elements in our own society will say that their behavior is to be blamed on the white man because of racial and economic oppression effects of colonization.

You can be liberal and not support multiculturalism.  I consider my views moderate and I think that multiculturalism has gone too far in some instances.  We should be tolerant but not wholly submissive.
