You'd be very lucky to have Marxists either in government or in the opposition. Unfortunately you don't. And that's because you have the possibility to be self-sufficient in the US. Your resources, technology and facilities can more than cover the needs of the american population. Instead, you have a system that is very outward and imperialistic. What you get effectively is an elite making people inside and outside the US work for their profit of which american workers get only enough to support the economy with their demand - in fact, you get less than that. Your industry is migrating to countries with cheaper labor and the factories close instead of turning to worker control. When factories close you get a very stupid situation characteristic of capitalism: You have the facilities, the resources and the workers and instead of putting these three together to produce goods and cover their needs, you produce poverty and unemployment.

In capitalism problems are not solved. They are moved around geographically in order to accumulate wealth and distribute poverty. Remember: money = debt. This is achieved with bonds, CDSs, swaps, currency exchanges and of course industry migration.
