People who believe society is terribly fragile always believe every "Earth shattering revelation" that comes along should make everyone else take to the streets.
What I'm telling you is that most people will observe something that looks like conspiracy theory as a conspiracy theory and the leap will not occur. This is especially the case if the story has been already heard a number of times before, if only with minor variation. They just wouldn't give it mind, no matter how much undercurrent public attention it gets (and by that I do not mean "believers;" I mean market penetration in general).
