Economic system depends on US

We need to change the economic system so that it no longer depends on how well the US us doing.

For example countries such as the UK are starting to do well coming out of recession but then the US goes into to negative growth and starts to jeopardise it. Why?

That doesn't make sense. If sugar is produced more cheaply abroad I'm better off buying the cheap stuff, then I have more money to spend on halloween costumes for my dog and the latest Ipad and so forth.
