Economic system depends on US

We need to change the economic system so that it no longer depends on how well the US us doing.

For example countries such as the UK are starting to do well coming out of recession but then the US goes into to negative growth and starts to jeopardise it. Why?

Why not simply have preparations in place to ensure Autarky if international trade is compromised, but still have international trade because we're not xenophobic morons.
