According to Houston police, Sellars used his Myspace account, which is no longer available, to contact a 15-year-old boy from Indiana. After they established a relationship, Sellars paid for the teen to fly out to his Houston area apartment, where he sexually assaulted the boy multiple times.

Sellars showed he was a real class act when the relationship began going downhill.

The boy reportedly received a MySpace message from Sellars stating: “I have HIV. You probably do too. Have a nice life”. The teen’s grandparents alerted police.

During a search of Sellars’ residence, investigators reportedly found child pornography in a briefcase and medical records stating he was infected with HIV. Records indicate Sellars knew of his condition before he abused the child.

Sellars was booked into jail and charged with possession of child pornography and “aggravated” sexual assault of a child.

The charge was enhanced to “aggravated” because Sellars used his body as a deadly weapon (HIV bodily fluids).

It is currently unknown if the teen has contracted the disease.

So I'm supposed to believe that they will be more afraid of capital punishment than of imprisonment as a pedophile?  I'm afraid it just doesn't work that way.  These are irrational people, and the idea that capital punishment is an effective deterrent has been disproved over and over.  And no, I'm not going to provide "proof".  It's true and it's easy to research, as is the fact that capital punishment adversely affects minorities.  And of course, in my opinion the biggest problem is that mistakes are made.  Way too often.  So who's worse?  A man who murders one innocent, or a government who murders hundreds?  Our societies must represent the best in us; our humanity, and rationality.  We must be better than the bad guys.
