Because the airwaves belong to We The People. Not some wasteful, bureaucratic, innovation stifling, government agency that is making sure the propaganda machine is well-oiled and running smoothly.
They've taken control of radio, over-the-air television, possible take over of PAY cable television and radio service (satellite radio) and now that network neutrality has become law, the Internet may very well be next.
