I was thinking about this and is a technologically derived society such a bad thing>?All i ever hear when i mention this is the evil of scientists a popular but ultimatetly fictional concept.Yes some scientists design diseases and some scientists have been know to create weapons but even in these cases there is ultimatetly someone else demanding these things and willing to pay large sums of money for them.Just like anything else science is a job...but an ideal society it wouldnt be it would be a calling. Is the idea of being ruled by science scare the god damned cave men that much?
What does this have to do with autocracy? Other than the fact that primitive communists are retards and their retarded utopia would fall apart and be replaced by an autocracy in seconds.

The problem with being ruled by scientists is the same as the problem being ruled in any other way.
Hint: It's the "being ruled" part.

I'd rather be "ruled" by elected representatives than criminal gangs.

I agree, however, the majority of elected representatives will abuse their power and do whatever it takes (bribes, kickbacks, ect.), to become re elected. A lot of them are scum and don't deserve to hold office. Basically they become "legal" criminal gangs and use tax payers' money for their own personal needs and/or gains.

It won't work as long as people believe in religion.
There is little to differentiate such a system from any other form of theocracy, except instead of 'God' the tenets are ruled by 'Science'. The common people, those who would make up the majority of the governed, would be just as lost trying to understand scientific rationale behind rulings as they would be trying to understand religious doctrine, and control would essentially be based on "Are the people sated enough by the governing body to not revolt?"
The only people who would see clear benefit in a science-based government would be those who are scientifically minded. The same could be said of any theocracy, where the people who would benefit most would be those who's religious beliefs are similarly akin to the government.

If you were intelligent enough to become a scientist you would be able to construct legible sentences.
