Can you explain that?  I mean, I just don't understand why some people in the natural sciences seem to object to the application of the scientific method to people.

I don't object to the application of the scientific method to people, I object to the application of pseudo-science to people.

Scientific method is about obtaining as many facts as possible and observing the relationships between them. Qualitative research is about hand picking facts to suit a conclusion, it is not science.

Got it.  I looked up Qualitative research.  So you don't object to the social sciences per se, rather the qualitative aspects employed in varying degrees by them.  'Cause Medicine, Sociology, and even the dreaded magical Psychology, are full of sub domains that are heavily quantitative.  Anyway, thanks.  I'll read up on it tomorrow.

Both qualitative research and scientific method (quantitative research) use subjective data, the key difference is in how the accuracy and importance of this information is judged. A qualitative researcher will tell you that subjective information can only be judged subjectively.
