Slogging through the Communist Manifesto for Western Civ tomorrow.

It's my turn to lead the discussion and take score.

Any ideas on discussion questions?

a good point of discussion is WHY it was written. i think people took it too seriously - it's amateurish work compared to das kapital, and some even consider it to be a propaganda piece. he doesn't even go to great lengths to discuss in what form 'communism' would take. also what's it's length? 20 pages? good solid piece of work by marx? no. why did people take it seriously?

it would probably better if your western civ class read das kapital rather than the communist manifesto because western civilization follows a rather social economical liberal capitalist structure and das kapital would highlight some critical issues in the 'capitalist' part and provide some proper arguments (as opposed to the communist manifesto). i'm starting to rant so i'll stop
