In theory, if the former Yugoslavian states reformed under one flag, ruled by representatives from all the states (maybe even picked a city in the dead center of Yugoslavia for its capital) it would stop any possibility of war breaking out again? Even become an EU member and a European power? Is this even possible?

I know there is still a lot of resentment between ethnic groups. Myself as a Croat i cant honestly say i hate Serbians, and i know many of by Bosniak friends feel the same, but I've heard others say the could never forgive them.

I don't want this thread to into a race war. all sides did shit things.

Yugoslavia was a fairly aritificial and short lived conglomeration of countries to beggin with. As it is, countries that have recently been at war are not likely to play nicely with eachother in a national assembly.
Better for the varius factions to look after thier own claimed areas, and trade with who they want to trade with, under the watchful eye of the UN to make sure that they dont make life to unpleasant for the remaining minority populations.

Personaly, I think its sad that people feel so strongly about race and nationalism that they would kill over it, and find it hard to empathise, but things in the balkans were messy from all sides, and it will take a long time for the nations to come together.

If most of them can seperately join the EU or at least, then I would hope for a long term peace.

Also, the russians feel that that parts of that area is thier teritory.
