Wal mart,

good or bad?

Discuss.

Overall, it's bad to profoundly accelerate the process of industrial economy of scale, by using economic forces instead of technological ones to effect that process.  In other words, Wal*Mart is bad not because it's technologically more efficient at delivering goods, but only because it's economically more efficient at doing so ... by forcing suppliers to drop prices so hard that the suppliers get caught in a cash-flow trap and either cycle out of the Wal*Mart chain or they collapse.

But they can't reduce prices unless they have superior technology. Ensuring that 1000s of goods are always on the shelves before their sell by date is a huge task itself let alone doing this as economically as possible and pre-empting demand fluctuations throughout the year.

That's merely an exercise of a mature technology that all other retail outlets can partake of, and do.  It's just using computers and databases.  Those are everywhere and even the smallest shop has access to similar tools than what Wal*Mart uses.

Sadly, you know too little about modern retail sales, yet you still chose to spout off about them here as if you DID know enough.
