McCain staffers stole 12,000 miniature American flags from Obama's convention and then lied to people at a rally, pretending that the Democrats had thrown them out. They were actually being bagged and stored for later use.

On a dock ready to be loaded on a truck is not "thrown out". Matter of fact, this is a criminal act. Try stealing from a UPS load/unload dock, even near a dumpster, and you'll have a criminal record no matter what excuse you use.

The Democrats hate America so it would be only natural that they would throw those flags away.
Reports say that the original plan was to burn the flags in the middle of their convention floor.
The US Flag Code says burning the flag is the proper disposal method.
Whereas the original Republican convention plans called for piling books and copies of the constitution and burning them. But people told Palin that we don't tolerate that in the lower 48.
