Thirdly businesses which produce the essentials we all need never lose business, recessions at worst entail a reduction in luxury/convenient goods. Fourthly recessions promote entrepeneurial spirit, people can lose everything and thus become pathologically desperate to find a new way to make money, thus recessions in fact prepare a pool of resourceful people who are likely to generate an economic boom once the bust is over. Fifthly, if you can succesfully predict a recession you can take many measures to take advantage of the future economic environment and with much less competition compared to those accustomed to a fast growing economic environment, many disadvantaged uneducated people can get rich this way.
