Why do they call themselves Celtic when the huge majority of their population speaks English, a Germanic language with a large Latin/French vocabulary?

The old theory goes that the Anglo-Saxons came from Germany and  replaced all the indigeounous populations of England, but didn't make it as far as Wales and Scotland. The problem is DNA testing disproves this theory and shows Brits to be almost the same ethnically. It's more likely Brits were all one "race" to begin with and the Anglo-Saxon, Viking, Celt invasions had a minimal impact.
