Mormons believe they are descended from Israelites who traveled from the middle east to the Americas by boat, and had offspring with native americans and south americans. They believe Zion is the promised land in America, not in Israel, and represents a covenant between Jews and Mormons, since they are supposed to be related. What's weird is the number of Mormon businesses in Utah that have parallels to Jewish businesses. There are Mormon banks like the Bank of Zion, there are movie studios and movie production companies that create pro-Mormon movies shown within the state, and the state is overrun with billboards and advertisements to reinforce the religious culture and common beliefs in Joseph Smith, with businesses providing services to missionaries and church members, using jargon and terms that are familiar to them. It's odd how religion, combined with mythological ideas of race and history, can create a miniature society where thoughts are influenced so readily by business.
