I think no crime should carry the death penalty. Only the seriousness of a crime should warrent the death penalty.
Example.
A kidnapped and abused child (or teenager) who then killed said kidnapper shouldnt get the death penalty. But someone who randomly breaks into someones house and kills a whole family should.

I'm not a bleeding liberal pussy but I have to disagree with the death penalty.
1: Death is the easy way out.
2: It could turn up 20 years later that the criminal was innocent or something and he might be needed in finding the real killer.
3: Dead people can't work. Prisoners are a good source of labour, it's utilitarian.

Only low risk offenders can work, those serving life for serious crimes are not allowed out. Also living prisoners need to be feed and kept in secure conditions which is more expensive than the amount prisons make from prison labour (this is why the state has to fund prisons).
Perhaps the state should kill criminals with very long prison sentences to reduce the burden on the tax payer.

im against the death penalty for any crime except murder and even then it really has to be 100% proven for the death penalty, but i'd lock someone up at like 95% chance of being correct

Everything should incur the death penalty, it would reduce crime rates a ton. Plus it would cull the idiots from the gene pool who think that those crimes are a good idea in the first place.
