Yuppies

First of all the main purpose of this thread is not to hate on yuppies, but rather the people who uphold yuppieism as a shining ideal. Perhaps they are parents, relatives or friends. Now people are free to live their lives as they please. But how about the assumption that people who have several cars in the garage, a big house, luxury goods and so on are living more meaningful lives because they've achieved success in that particular area?

one could achieve success by contributing to the arts, literature, music.. i have more respect for people who do that than those corporate whores who are only interested in having an impressive bank balance or net worth.
