Yuppies

First of all the main purpose of this thread is not to hate on yuppies, but rather the people who uphold yuppieism as a shining ideal. Perhaps they are parents, relatives or friends. Now people are free to live their lives as they please. But how about the assumption that people who have several cars in the garage, a big house, luxury goods and so on are living more meaningful lives because they've achieved success in that particular area?

You betray a lack of imagination. You could achieve success in so much more than amassing possessions--just choose a different goal. Perhaps you like killing people, in which case your goal should be number of deaths and you can join a mercenary outfit. Or maybe it's sexual conquests, in which case you might like to buy a van and drive to places far away from your home for rape. Just pick something (other than Mammon).
