Yes, "3000 never showed up" was from a Middle Eastern news article that said 3000 were not in the area during the attacks, then the rumor was that 3000 employees never showed up, then no Jews were in the building.  The truth is, there were Jews in the tower during the collapse.  Here's one of them:
