America doesn't. In fact, most Americans didn't know about the "holocaust" before the 1960's, and even then, it really wasn't discussed. It really became an issue after Israel's 1967 war to spread propaganda to American Jews/Ashkenazi Jews who they'd like to join them in the fight against Arab states. It is then the holocaust became a tool for political effects.

Americans never have felt guilty of the Holocaust, because the Americans did not cause or aid the cause of it. The Germans are the ones you're after.

Israel is a pretty useless client state though.

There are 5 countries that matter in the Middle East:

Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Saudi-Arabia and Egypt.

Turkey = NATO so that's ok
Iran = The US should have intervened to keep the Shah in power
Iraq = If despite US intervention the Islamic revolution in Iran was succeful, the US should have fully supported the war between Iraq-Iran to completely destroy Iran and vassalize whatever remains. Possible Iraqi invasion of Kuwait should happened with out intervention.
Saudi-Arabia: they could comply to become client state and get aid, or reject the offer, bu then they'll stand alone against Saddam's legions.
Egypt needs some support too (allow them to take over Israel + Pal territories?)

If the US did it like that, almost the entire ME oil would be in the hands of US client states, and the Suez canal too.

 Now THAT's what I call "controlling the Middle East".

Israel acts like a spoiled child, and the US always reaches into its pocket to buy more war toys for its little darling. The Israelis kill Arabs galore, and wonder why everyone hates them. The US shrugs and says "What? What did I do?"

The US doesn't have the balls to bring Israel into line. It'll be a big drain on the US economy and we'll all keep paying for it. The US is failing, and borrowing money from china now big time. Eventually the US economy falls at it becomes just another country. US cuts funding to Israel. Arabs invade to 'take their land back' US intervenes, but now a poor country is thoroughly trashed.

I have seen the future. Was it worth it? I don't think so.
