I would like to hear opinions. Do you think children are obliged to care for their parents in old age?

No, but I'd still care for them when they get really old.

I suppose it depends on the level of care the parent(s) provided for the child. If the parents did a bad job then the child really doesn't have much of an obligation. If the parents were good to them then there is a very strong obligation to return the effort.
but look how much money and time is put into all these government programs for the elderly. it's ridiculous. people should respect the role of parenthood more than letting the government deal with them. most countries do not have to put up with this bullshit due to the fact children put the responsibility in their own hands. however, here we are in america where it's a better decision to go on cruises, drive expeditions, and dump the 'rents into a nursing home.
>>6 Yeah, cause I need to fork out part of my pay check for someone who couldn't ferret thirty bucks a week to a savings account. Besides, Social and all it's brethren will die by the time we get there.

What about creating grandchildren? Is it an obligation?
