Because I have little faith in humanity. Any group on the top won't be benevolent for long. I can hope otherwise, but I'll err on the side of history.
Of course, with all the new toys humanity is acquiring (nuclear, biological, and lord knows what'll come in the future) I think we'll need some global power centralisation eventually. I dislike it, but it's better than extinct. However, I'd rather it was based on merit instead of race.
I wish Canada would adopt the same with its immigration policies. We can't do much about the people already here, but we shouldn't be compounding the problem with undisirables nobody else wants.
