When religion does... that is to say, never.

The same time the Lunatic Fringe Left movement does.

You mean the one that the USA was founded on?

What the fuck are you talking about? There is no fucking communist movement that could even be considered to be on a large scale.

So why do you fear it so?

>>7

Fear what? The religious right? It's pretty obvious they'd like to fuck up everything as much as possible.

No doubt. The far right seems to think government exists to control the actions of it's people to the point of forced morals and conformity. This is supposed to be a government by, for, and of the people, not a police state.

No, fear the communist movement. Read post moar.

I dont fear something that doesn't exist.

Not one that has political power, at least.

Yes, post nine, and the Left thinks that the government exists to control the wallets of its (not "it's") people. Abolish the welfare state AND the Church of Congress. Fuck it all; vote libertarian.

Left thinkers believe in taking care of the lower class before taking care of big business. And since big business has a tendency to fuck the working class, the government has a responsibility to keep companies in line, to a degree. I don't think that qualifies as a welfare state, just the prevention of a corporate slave state.

Marxism is wrong.

>>15
I didn't say anything about Marxism, unless you mean my reference to a lower class. Are you disagreeing that different social classes exist?

I myself am not a Marxist. Communism does not work, no matter how poetic "to each according to need" sounds. But thank you for providing supporting facts, and arguments to go along with your opinion.

Or, #13, we could just have a government that doesn't take care of anyone, but lets them go about their own fucking business. How about THAT?

Marxism is right, u r just doin it wrong.

I believe communism is the only thing that will work in the end, but im not good at debating it. I gladly concede that it has similarities with a religous belief, yet i do think that it is based in rationality and empirical evidence. Im no theoretician in this field though, my marxian shooling is to weak.

Corporations would never let the government slip into such a sorry state, since corporations are the greatest beneficiaries of the governments different operations. This may seem counter intuitive but think about it, who profits most from roads, state sponsored space flight and all its spin of technologies, telephone lines, prisons, open international markets and  import tolls on agricultural products? Its not for the private person these things exist.

A true communist government would probably work on a small scale, but none has ever existed. Several countries have tried variations of communism, but they all failed because it only takes a few people in political power to fuck it all up.

Also, I'm willing to bet corporations would be tickled pink if basic infrastructure was privatized. Practically no taxes, but every single road requires a toll. Fuck that, I have no problem letting the government spend taxes on, and create regulations for, basic country maintenance. I just wish that's what they were spending it on. Sink half our current military budget into public education, and hopefully in 10 years we can have a well educated populace capable of competing in a world market, and fixing the problems we are inevitable going to leave them.

The current system works for now, it just needs some tinkering.
