marx had a point when he said the industrial revolution was built on the backs of poor workers. maybe other countries just had a moral aversion to forcing children to work in windowless buildings for 18 hours a day
And look what happened as a result: they fell behind and couldn't become successful until they followed the exact same path to success that we did. China's suffering has just been prolonged during their industrialization.
